  1. Zahlen. Bedeutungslos, solange sie nicht in einem Zusammenhang stehen. Abstraktionen, die alles und nichts anzeigen können. Sie suggerieren Genauigkeit, Objektivität und Wissenschaftlichkeit, alles Eigenschaften, von denen in die letzten beiden Jahren ja kaum mehr die Rede sein konnte. Sie können ebensogut Propagandazwecken dienen, wie so genannte Fakten (wörtlich „Gemachtes”) darstellen.
    „3,5” drückt zunächst einmal nichts aus. Meine Aufnahme einer Tabelle voller Dezimalzahlen beschwört die oben genannten Eigenschaften, bedeutet aber gar nichts, so lange man nicht weiß, was diese Zahlen darstellen sollen. Der Kontext, in den ich eine Zahl stelle, macht erst den beabsichtigten Sinn aus. Zahlen sind genauso auf Interpretation angewiesen wie alles andere auch. Sie sind mitnichten objektiv. Das sollten wir im Kopf behalten.
